On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, The Union League Club of Chicago hosted baseball legend, Joe Maddon, who brought the Chicago Cubs to victory after a rather long (108 year) interval between World Series wins.
His new book “The Book of Joe” is a memoir of a fascinating baseball journey in addition to being a guidebook on leadership and life.
Joe Maddon is a manager that meditates daily and whose wisdom applies beyond the dugout. Joe’s mantras include “try not to suck, if you think you look hot, wear it, and don’t ever permit the pressure to exceed the pleasure” among many others.
Like his teams, Maddon defies convention- he is part strategist, philosopher, psychologist, and motivational coach.
The FourStar group in attendance was able to absorb some of the wisdom that he applies beyond the dugout while enjoying a great luncheon.
